Grant Writing Workshop held in Lagos

Grant writing workshop, organized by Lagos State chapter of Nigerian Library Association (NLA) on Wednesday, 22nd June, 2011 was highly interactive with 51 participants from different parts of Lagos and other parts of Nigeria in attendance. .

The speakers, Dr B.A. Oladele (University Librarian, University of Ibadan) and Dr Adebanbo Oduwole (Medical Librarian, Lagos state University College of Medicine) brilliantly and intensely led the participants to discover secrets of writing winning proposals for grants and funds available in library and information profession across the world.
Dr Oladele spoke expansively on rudiments of grant’s proposal writing; stressing the important points that reviewers look for. There was a case study where the participants were broken into groups where a grant notice was discussed and proposals were presented by the groups.

The second presenter, Dr Oduwole spoke on funding sources and international opportunities for librarians. He exposed participants to some useful institutions where grants are available for academic and personal development.

In all, the whole workshop was a huge success as participants’ reaction and commendation were highly encouraging.
