Over 100 librarians attended Librarian Day’s lecture in Lagos

Over 100 librarians attended Librarian Day’s lecture that took place at Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) Library, University of Lagos on Thursday 12th May, 2011. The lecture was part of activities slated for 2011 Nigeria International Book Fair (NIBF).

Samuel Eyitayo FNLA, of Whitney M. Young Jr. Information Resource Center, Public Affairs Section, U.S. Consulate General captivated the audience with lecture on Technology & the Future of Librarianship: How to Stay Afloat.

Some of the basic Technology Competencies for Librarians in the 21s century that were extensively discussed are:


  • Ability to embrace change


  • Ability to troubleshoot new technologies:


  • Comfortable in the online platform


  • Ability to easily learn new technologies and keep-up with new idea and developments in the profession.
