OAU APPOINTS NEW LIBRARIAN‏



The Council of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has appointed a new University Librarian for the Hezekiah Oluwasanmi Library of the University. She is Bukky Olufemi ASUBIOJO. She replaced Mr. Michael Afolabi who completed his tenure on February 20, 2011.
Mrs. Asubiojo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education in 1983 and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science in 1985 (both from the University of Ibadan). She, thereafter, proceeded to the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where she obtained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer Science in 2003.

The new University Librarian started her career in 1986 as a Librarian II at the Lagos State Polytechnic before moving to the Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University), Ago Iwoye in 1987. She later joined the services of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in 1992 as a Senior Librarian where she rose through the rank to the post of Deputy University Librarian in 2007.
Mrs. Asubiojo, who is a member of so many professional associations, had been the Head, Acquisitions, Reference and Document Sections of the University Library and had also attended several conferences locally, nationally and internationally. Before her new appointment as the helmsperson of the University Library, she was the Head, Technical Services Department which comprises Cataloguing and Classification and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sections.
