National Library Gets New CEO


President Goodluck Jonathan approved the appointment of Malam Habib Abba Jato as the Director/Chief executive officer of the National Library of Nigeria (NLN).

The approval was conveyed in a letter signed by the minister of Education Prof Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufai. According to a statement signed by Abubarkar Bello Abdullahi, head, public relations unit of the National library of Nigeria (NLN) said, the appointment was for a period of four years renewable only once and takes effect from 14 February 2011.
The newly appointed Director/CEO was born in Bama Local Government area of Borno State on 25th November 1957 and started his working career as a library officer at the University of Maiduguri in 1978.
He became chief librarian and the Acting collage Librarian of the federal collage of Education potiskum, Yobe state where he transferred his services to the National Library of Nigeria in 1993 and rose to become the Director of public service Department in 2008.
Malam Jato holds Bachelors and masters Degrees in Library science all from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and is a chartered librarian and a member of Nigerian library Association, he is married with children.
